OverviewInmotion RS Midnight sits at the extreme end of the electric-scooter market, where stability, braking and chassis control matter as much as headline speed. The current Midnight specification pairs dual 2,000W motors with 72V sine-wave controllers and a 40Ah Samsung battery, with 8,400W of combined peak output. Its published figures reach 60 mph and up to 60 miles per charge, although high-speed riding, hills, cold weather and a heavier rider can cut range substantially. Independent testing of the closely related full-size RS platform has recorded more than 60 mph and considerably less than the best-case range figure under demanding real-world riding, which is a useful reminder that this is a performance machine rather than a laboratory-range exercise.
The chassis is unusually adjustable for a scooter of this size. Four deck-height positions let the rider lower the platform for road stability or increase clearance for broken surfaces, while the C-shaped hydraulic suspension offers 11 response settings. Wide 11 x 3.5-inch tubeless tires, a dual-stem front end and 160 mm hydraulic disc brakes give the RS Midnight the hardware expected at this performance level. Lighting includes front and rear signals, brake lighting and deck illumination, while the display and companion app provide access to ride information and settings. The IPX6 body rating is useful for unpredictable weather, but it should not be treated as permission for deep-water riding.
The trade-off is mass and complexity. At roughly 128 lb, the RS Midnight is not something most riders will want to carry up stairs or load into a vehicle regularly, and its folding system does not turn it into a genuinely portable commuter. Independent RS testing has also noted occasional app-connectivity and finishing-quality complaints, while aggressive high-speed riding demands much more space, protective equipment and judgement than a conventional city scooter. For an experienced rider with a safe, legal place to use its performance, the RS Midnight offers exceptional speed, strong braking and useful chassis adjustability; for short mixed-mode commuting, it is simply more scooter than necessary.
